Dexxer is built around a simple principle: your files and saved Dexxer indexes belong on your Mac, not on our servers.

This Privacy Policy explains what Dexxer LLC (“Dexxer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) does and does not collect when you use the Dexxer application, visit dexxerapp.com, purchase Dexxer, or contact us for support.

1. Privacy Inside the Dexxer App

Dexxer creates searchable indexes from drives and folders that you choose to scan.

Your saved Dexxer indexes are stored locally on your Mac.

Dexxer does not upload or transmit the contents of your saved indexes to Dexxer servers, including:

  • Your files

  • File and folder names contained in your indexes

  • File and folder paths contained in your indexes

  • Drive contents

  • Search queries

  • Saved index contents

  • Personal documents

Dexxer does not use cloud processing to scan or search your files.

Dexxer does not sell or use the contents of your files or saved indexes for advertising.

2. Mac App Store Edition

Dexxer – External Drive Search purchased through the Mac App Store does not require:

  • A Dexxer account

  • A Dexxer Pro license key

  • LemonSqueezy

  • External purchases

  • Cloud sync

  • In-app advertising

  • Dexxer-operated in-app analytics

The Mac App Store edition creates saved indexes locally on your Mac from the folders and drives you choose to scan.

Purchases and downloads made through the Mac App Store are handled by Apple and are also subject to Apple’s privacy policies.

3. Direct-Download Dexxer Pro

The direct-download edition of Dexxer Pro uses a license key for activation.

License activation may require the exchange of limited licensing information necessary to validate the license, such as:

  • License key

  • Product information

  • Activation status

  • Device activation information required by the licensing service

This licensing process does not transmit the contents of your files or saved Dexxer indexes.

4. Website Information and Cookies

DexxerApp.com is hosted using Squarespace.

Like most websites, the site and its service providers may automatically process limited technical and usage information when you visit, such as:

  • Browser type

  • Device or operating system information

  • Pages viewed

  • Approximate traffic source or referral source

  • General website usage information

  • IP address or similar technical information used to provide and secure the website

Squarespace may use necessary, analytics, and performance cookies to operate the website and provide website traffic information.

Dexxer may also use website analytics services to understand general traffic and improve the website.

This website analytics information is separate from the Dexxer application. Dexxer does not use website analytics to view your local files, saved indexes, or searches inside the Dexxer app.

5. Direct Purchases Through LemonSqueezy

Purchases of the direct-download Dexxer Pro edition are processed through LemonSqueezy.

LemonSqueezy acts as the merchant of record and may collect information necessary to complete the transaction, including information such as:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Billing information

  • Payment information

  • Country or region

  • Tax-related information

Dexxer does not receive or store your full payment card information.

Dexxer may receive limited purchase and licensing information needed to fulfill the order and provide support, such as:

  • Email address

  • Product or order information

  • License key

  • License activation status

Information processed by LemonSqueezy is also subject to LemonSqueezy’s own privacy policies and terms.

6. Mac App Store Purchases

Purchases through the Mac App Store are processed by Apple.

Dexxer does not receive or store your full payment card information for Mac App Store purchases.

Information processed by Apple is governed by Apple’s applicable privacy policies and terms.

7. Support Requests and Contact Forms

When you contact Dexxer Support, submit a website form, or email us, we receive the information you choose to provide.

This may include:

  • Your name

  • Email address

  • Message

  • macOS version

  • Dexxer version or edition

  • Screenshots or attachments you voluntarily provide

  • Purchase information you provide for support purposes

We use this information to respond to your request, troubleshoot problems, provide customer support, and improve Dexxer.

Please avoid sending confidential files or sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for us to assist you.

8. Emails

Dexxer may use your email address to provide:

  • Purchase or licensing assistance

  • Customer support

  • Information related to a request you submitted

Where marketing communications are offered, they will be handled in accordance with applicable law and any available subscription or opt-out choices.

Dexxer does not sell your personal information.

10. Local Index Storage

Dexxer saved indexes are stored locally within application data managed on your Mac.

The exact storage location may differ depending on the Dexxer edition and how macOS manages the application.

Dexxer LLC does not have remote access to the contents of these local indexes.

When an edition supports index export, exported Dexxer index files are saved only to the location you choose.

11. Data Retention

Local Dexxer indexes remain on your Mac until they are removed through Dexxer, deleted from the Mac, or removed along with the applicable application data.

For information that Dexxer LLC does receive—such as support correspondence or purchase-related information—we retain it only for as long as reasonably necessary for purposes such as customer support, business records, security, accounting, and legal obligations.

12. Your Choices

You control which drives and folders Dexxer scans.

You can delete or replace saved scans and, where supported, export saved index files.

Your browser settings and any privacy or cookie controls available on the website can also be used to manage certain website cookies.

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide additional rights regarding personal information that Dexxer LLC controls.

13. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information under our control.

However, no website, electronic communication, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

One of Dexxer’s primary privacy protections is that the contents of your files and saved indexes are designed to remain local on your Mac rather than being stored on Dexxer-operated cloud servers.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Dexxer, our website, or applicable requirements change.

When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
